Abuse Prevention
Ideally, the teen years are a time for young men and women to enjoy the excitement of expanding their social circles. Meeting someone you like who might like you back can be a delightful adventure. Regrettably, some teens find themselves involved in abusive relationships.
If you are being abused:
- You are not responsible for the violence. Be aware, it will probably happen again and get worse over time.
- Find someone you can talk to about the abuse. This may be a friend, teacher, counselor, trusted adult, your parents or a hotline.
- Think of ways which may help you be safe such as calling a friend to give you a ride home.
- Being uncomfortable can never cost your life. Violence can.
